An experimental controlled vocabulary developed as part of the Health Service Executive (HSE) Ageing Well in Later Life Profile project to define allowed field values and definitions for a HSE public health data catalogue using the HealthDCAT-AP Release 5 metadata vocabulary. The terminology includes suggested code schemes for data catalogues describing datasets and health indicators relevant to Irish public health. This terminology provides standardised terms and classifications that clarify the usage of HealthDCAT-AP Release 5 for health data management, supporting interoperability and consistent data cataloguing in the Irish health system with a particular focus on population health and wellbeing profiles. Where possible it includes cross-links to equivalent terms in other terminologies or vocabularies, most notably in Geohive for Irish geospatial entities like IHAs or Counties, the Data Privacy Vocabulary for data protection concepts and the Publications Office of the European Union.
This controlled vocabulary was developed by the Research Ireland ADAPT Centre at UCD as part of the Ageing Well in Later Life Profile project under Health Service Executive National Clinical Programme for Older People Research Award 2024 (NCPOP RA3/2024).
